Principals Daryl Deke and Sherry Delaney founded New Market Wealth to pioneer a new concept that melds institutional resources with private-client service. Since its founding in 2014, New Market Wealth has steadily built a loyal and growing clientele based largely on referrals. With a close-knit team, many of whom worked together previously in their careers, New Market Wealth is known for its thriving culture and exceptional client service, delivering outstanding outcomes, time after time.

Daryl Deke

Daryl Deke founded New Market Wealth to provide private clients with the same strategies and unbiased approach employed by large institutions, pension funds and endowments. During his 30+-year career, Daryl has opened new, highly lucrative markets—for both institutional and private clients—and pioneered innovative investment models. Under Daryl’s leadership, New Market Wealth sets a new standard in client service as one of the rare 100% fee-only fiduciaries nationwide.

Throughout his career, Daryl has developed deep expertise in both the business and client sides of the industry. Before launching New Market Wealth, Daryl was managing partner for alternative strategies at Northern Trust, where, through an exclusive partnership with Makena Capital, a firm founded by the team behind the Stanford University endowment, he launched the endeavor by bringing in more than $1 billion in new assets, all with wealthy families of Northern Trust.

Early in his career, Daryl joined Sanford Bernstein. As the firm’s youngest institutional sales manager, he built the firm’s institutional asset management business in the South and quickly began signing Fortune 100 companies. Less than seven years later, Daryl’s efforts constituted 10% of firm assets. Later, he moved to the private client side, opening a new office for Sanford Bernstein in Dallas and then running the private client business in Los Angeles. When Daryl joined Neuberger Berman in 2007, he championed a new approach to wealth management, bringing institutional-style strategies to a highly personalized private-client business, and quickly rose to become the firm’s number one producing advisor.

A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Daryl commanded nuclear missile sites as a captain and is a current trustee of the school’s foundation. Previously, he served for seven years as Chairman of the investment committee for the school’s endowment and was also a member of its executive committee. During his tenure leading the investment committee, Daryl helped create and implement a structure for managing risk that allowed VMI’s endowment to reduce volatility and stabilize its income payouts—goals most individual investors share.

A father of six, Daryl is married to New Market Wealth Co-Founder and COO Sherry Delaney. For 27 years in a row, he has been involved with Little League baseball…with one of his own children.

Principal, Chief Operations Officer

Sherry Delaney, CFP®, CIMA®

Sherry Delaney has a diverse background that spans all sides of the financial services industry, including marketing, sales, operations, portfolio management and more. At New Market Wealth, Sherry oversees all firm operations—from technology, systems, marketing and compliance to client management—and is a key member of the firm’s investment policy group.

For most of her career, Sherry has worked in sales departments at large financial institutions, including Principal Financial Group and Alliance Capital. At Alliance, she headed the employee communications division, where she was a liaison between the sales team and administrators. In that role, she developed a varied skillset, creating marketing collateral, speaking to employees, assisting with fund selection and presenting at conferences, among other responsibilities.

After spending a large part of her career working with brokers, Sherry left the banking world to join a registered financial advisor. Working with two RIAs, Sherry managed everything from new business and client service to asset allocation and portfolio management.

When Sherry and her husband/partner Daryl L. Deke decided to start their own firm, they wanted to provide a level of private client service largely missing in the industry, save for family offices. They founded New Market Wealth to meet the highest standards in ethics and transparency. In less than five years, they have grown the business from zero clients to roughly 80 families.

In her free time, Sherry enjoys sitting on various nonprofit, school and community boards and playing tennis.

Director of Portfolio Management

Ted Sweeney, CFA, CAIA

Ted Sweeney has spent his entire career within the asset management industry and brings considerable experience from his nearly two decades of working with individual clients. At New Market Wealth, Ted is a junior partner and a member of the investment policy group. He oversees portfolio management for the firm, which includes everything from security selection to trading.

Like most of his New Market Wealth colleagues, Ted is a veteran of AllianceBernstein. He credits his time there with instilling an appreciation for high-quality research and first-class client service. After leaving AllianceBernstein, Ted built a business with private clients working for Merrill Lynch as an advisor and portfolio analyst. From there, he became the lead portfolio manager of a wealth management team at Robert W. Baird & Co., where he developed and ran a proprietary quantitatively managed fund.

Ted earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Villanova University and is a CFA® charterholder and a CAIA® charterholder.

He lives an active lifestyle with his wife and daughter, enjoying all that Southern California has to offer, is an avid reader and a huge Villanova basketball fan.

Senior Relationship Manager

Kelly Gentles, CFP®, CIMA®

Kelly Gentles supports the firm in all aspects of client service including helping new clients through the onboarding process, building relationships and assisting with day-to-day operations.

Before joining New Market Wealth, Kelly began her career in institutional investment management, where she provided high level client service to large institutional clients such as pension plans, foundations and endowments. She later transitioned into retail financial services, serving in client service, portfolio construction and administration roles. At New Market Wealth, Kelly taps into her institutional background to help clients understand an otherwise complex and opaque landscape. She enjoys being part of a close-knit team and advocating on behalf of clients.

Kelly graduated from Temple University with a B.S. in business administration.  In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, hiking, spending time with family, studying French and relaxing on the beach.

Director of Marketing

Amy Gratteau

Amy Gratteau handles all of New Market Wealth’s marketing and communications, including writing the weekly market digest and quarterly newsletters, managing social media and the company website, creating presentations and planning for client events and seminars.

A veteran of Sanford Bernstein, Amy worked closely with Daryl during her tenure there, running the firm’s professional and networking events for financial advisors in Los Angeles and the Southwest region. After leaving Sanford Bernstein, Amy joined Canterbury Consulting, an independent investment consulting firm serving endowments and foundations. During her 13 years with the company, Amy built the firm’s marketing department from scratch and managed key projects, including a company rebrand.

Amy was instrumental in launching New Market Wealth. Beyond leading the design and marketing efforts, she worked closely with technology partners to build out the CRM platform and train New Market Wealth staff.

Amy is a graduate of UCLA. When she’s not working, Amy can be found carpooling to her children’s sporting events, volunteering in the community or enjoying a good glass of wine with her husband.
